Schengen Visa (Type ’C’) Applications

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary in Accra wishes to inform all clients that our Schengen visa (Type ’C’) Application procedure and appointment booking system have been renewed and is available on the following link:

In the new system Schengen visa (Type ’C’) applicants must enter their personal data online, after which a completed Schengen Visa Application form bearing a unique QR code will be generated.

Applicants are advised to have soft copies of all supporting documents prepared in advance to be uploaded.

Soft copies of each supporting document must be in good quality, less than 5MB per file and preferably in pdf format.

Each applicant will require individual appointments and a Schengen visa application form in their own name, bearing the QR code (including minors)

Appointments once booked can only be cancelled, not rescheduled.

Applicants must report to the Embassy of Hungary in Accra on their appointment date with hard copies of all uploaded supporting documents and the Schengen Visa Application Form bearing the QR code.

Schengen Visa Fee Payment

Payment of visa fees is made by POS terminal ONLY with any bank card (debit, credit, visa or mastercard) at the Embassy during your appointment. Cash is not accepted.

The cost of Schengen visa fee is the prevailing US Dollar equivalent of 90 EUR for persons aged 12 years and older; the prevailing US Dollar equivalent of 45 EUR for children aged 6 – 11 years; free for children 5 years old and under.

United Bank for Africa (UBA) & Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) GHS account holders are duly informed that their GHS debit/credit cards are not accepted for visa fee payment, UBA & UMB cardholders are advised to contact their branch for assistance.

Appointments are free of charge - if you are offered one in exchange for a fee, be aware that it is a scam. The consulate neither charges nor accepts any fees for appointments.

Please note that online submission alone is not sufficient, the application must still be submitted in person after booking an appointment.

Schengen visa (Type ’C’) are for persons who wish to stay in the Schengen Area for 90 days or less. Applications must be submitted in a miniumum of 15 calendar days and a maximum of 6 months before the date of intended departure.

Visas will be issued to Hungary as follows: 

  • in Togo: France (Embassy of France in Lomé)
  • in Burkina Faso: Belgium (Embassy of Belgium in Ouagadougou)
  • in Cote d’Ivoire: France (Embassy of France in Abidjan)

RESIDENCE PERMIT

”D” type Visa Applications

The Consular Section of the Embassy of Hungary wishes to inform all potential Residence Permit (Visa Type ‘D’) applicants that Employment purpose residence permit applications have been suspended indefinitely.

The National Directorate General for Aliens Policing has introduced new regulations that no longer permit the admission of Residence Permit applications for the purpose of Employment.

 

Persons wishing to stay in Hungary for more than 90 days must apply for Residence Permit (Type ’D’) after succesfully booking an appointment.

Residence permit (Type ’D’) applicants must submit completed Residence Permit Application forms and its corresponding Appendix as per the purpose of their stay as follows:

  • Appendix No. 9.17 - official
  • Appendix No. 9.23 - family reunification
  • Appendix No. 9.13 - studies or student mobility

Residence Permit Fee Payment

  • Visa fee: the prevailing US Dollar equivalent of 110 EUR
  • Payment of the visa fee is made by POS terminal ONLY with any bank card (debit card, credit card, mastercard, visa etc). Cash is not accepted.
  • Visa fee payment via POS terminal is taken during applicants’ appointments at the Consular Section.
